finally getting around to this mid-week. a lot has happened since the last time I posted.


Two weekends ago a buddy of mine came to visit and we went to los angeles for a day. i got to see the infamous hollywood sign and venice beach. a great example of a fully programmed space and one of my new favorite spots. We also rented a tandem kayak and took it surfing even though the fine print said, "NO KAYAK SURFING". It was so fun.


This past weekend Jim invited Jonah and I to Sunnyland's, one of OJB's most notable projects, so we got to ditch work and head out to palm springs for the day where he showed us around and went over his favorite parts and even bought us lunch. 

Literally right after that we drove an hour up a mountain where we spent the next two days camping and hiking in a snow top covered mountain with a bunch of our other coworkers. It was a great experience and completely different from our previous camping trip.


The next day we drove home to the beach and i went surfing, which is still pretty crazy to me that you can go from desert to mountains to beach all in the span of three days. anyways I bailed on a big wave and jumped in front of my board, rookie mistake. The board hit me in my face, busted my chin and two hours later I was getting stitches in an urgent care. at least now I can cross that off my bucket list.


so, all in all a pretty eventful weekend. 


Work has been a little better recently, I got put on a new project which mostly involve a lot of InDesign, Vectorworks and a bit of Lumion. nice change of pace. Still not a fan of sitting behind a computer for 8 hours a day but it is what it is for now.  


Jonah and I are competing in a cornhole tournament this afternoon so wish us luck. toodles

Not yet in Lesotho. Cultivating skills and self-education.

Hi, my friends. I leave for Lesotho on September 22 and am living at my parents' houses until then. I started off my summer doing some organic farming around Baton Rouge, and it was a fulfilling way to earn a few bucks. I killed 75 chickens in a day and learned how to butcher, I installed irrigation lines, and I picked watermelons, corn, cucumbers, beans, squash, tomatoes, and more. I really think that my long-term vision involves farming. It is a hard life, but worth it. The middle of my summer was divided into a number of small trips. One was to visit ya boy Logan in Asheville, then attend the Cullowhee Native Plant Conference with Eric Vanbergen and Will Reinhardt. Will is such a lad, equally professor and friend. As part of the Microsoft shutdown, I ended up stuck in the Atlanta for 30+ hours. Fortunately though, I made some friends from London in the process. Schoolless life: working, biking, hiking and whatnot.

Hello again! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying life. Here is what I've been up to. I spent the month of June in Cambodia volunteering with some missionaries. It was an experience I will never forget. Very hot weather. Chaotic traffic. Really tasty tropical fruit. Some of kindest people.  One day while I was there, I got to visit a university in Phnom Penh that has an architecture and urban planning school. It was neat talking to the students and seeing their work. Several times while I was there, we would take a ferry across the Bassac River to visit schools in the province. Pretty cool, but a little sketchy.  After returning to the United States, I spent time with family for a few weeks, packed up my things, then moved to California! I found a job and a place to live in Santa Maria, which is close to where my girlfriend lives. I started work at PleinAire Design Group in August, and it's been good so far!
