It's about that time...
Hey everyone! I hope all of your internships are going smoothly and no one is too stressed out. I'll just go ahead and get started on the update
WORK
Work has really slowed down at PBD. The Calypso project has been put on the backburner while the clients assemble the other members of the team, so I haven't touched the projects in some time. Instead, I have been moved to designing a community entryway we are doing here in Central Florida, including signage and surrounding planting design. I originally thought it would just be a regular subdivision sign, but it has turned into two 16 foot tall towers, a water feature, and a huge amount of 3D cut corten steel incorporated into the signage. I've gotten a chance to really run with the project, going from sketches and renderings to AutoCAD and finally modeling it out in Sketchup. My coworkers are still tons of fun, and we've decided to invest in small battery charged boats to race in the pond behind us. Everyone at PBD is really unique and have such an interesting way of looking at design; its been really rewarding and fun to work with all of them.
PERSONAL LIFE
I've been diving into digital art and painting, and usually spend most of my weekends watching lectures and drawing away on my Ipad. Wedding planing is pretty stressful but enjoyable, and turth be told I'm just ready to get married at this point. The big fanfare and numbers and pricetags are important, but if I could have a small ceremony with just family and close friends at this point I probably would. My brother and his wife came to Orlando to visit me a few weeks ago, and in order for them to save money on a hotel I offered them my bed and bedroom during their time in Florida. This was a really bad idea I would come to find out as they would spend a crazy amount on alcohol at Epcot, so no money was saved at the end of the day and I still had to sleep on a tile floor. Smh
LIFE IN ORLANDO
The differences between my time in Orlando this past summer and this spring are like night and day. At the end of my internship during the summer, while I was happy that I did it, I was very ready to come home. This time, while I miss everyone back in LA and am looking forward to return to my life at LSU, I am going to miss tons of things here in Orlando. I am happy to say that I have made a ton of really great friends here and we're constantly hanging out and playing volleyball together. I've got a photo of some of them at the bottom of the post. Saying goodbye to them in a few weeks is going to be really hard, but I'll likely make an effort to return to Orlando to visit some of them in the near future.
