Week 8, 9, & 10 - Taylor Marcombe

March has flown by.. I swear I posted last week and its actually been 3 weeks I think. I was only at work the last two week though because I took a week off for spring break.

Things are starting to pick up very quickly at Mullin. The warmer weather hits and everyone realizes they want their gardens done or a pool in backyard. Because of this the last two weeks have been a lot of measuring and bases going into CAD. Not the most fun part of the job, but it is nice to get outside and see some very cool homes/properties.

Last week I was sent to a home (well mansion) in Thibodaux to take some soil samples in an effort to figure out why their fairly new 100 gallon live oaks are not doing well. This is a major cost if we have to replace them, therefore we are sending samples off to LSU for testing before we move forward with replacing them. I'm sure I looked odd to people passing by trying to stick a pole in the hard ground but it was still cool just to be on the property. (I wouldn't normally be sent to do something like this but they were in a time crunch and I live close to the area.) I'll put some pics below.

Besides bases and measuring, I was tasked to come up with a design/research for a green wall in our office. I put something together just to show the owner that I have been working on it but I still need to research artificial lighting and what plants can handle what type of light indoors. It will change again but I'll put a pic of what I have so far.

I have also been working on a few ongoing projects that are simple front landscape designs. I have the measurements for these, then I will create a base, then a design. After that I'll review it with my bosses and make revisions until they (and the client) are satisfied. Then I'll render it and put together an image board/plant palette. These are fairly easy and never take super long.

I think that is about it for the past few weeks. Hope everyone is still enjoying the work life.
