Week 5 - finished a vow
Week 5
Going hiking today with Jason because it is a beautiful day. Just completed a week-long vow of silence and I didn't get fired from my job! It was interesting, and I can summarize a few takeaways here: It is surprising to me how often I would be in a room with someone for 10-15 minutes, and they would just... not say anything. More people are silent than I had thought, and if I don't speak, nobody does. Also, I went to a party while on my vow, and boy, was that an interesting experience. I think it may have freaked some people out, but one guy was really interested in the concept and we had a really nice (partly nonverbal) conversation. ALSO, when you don't speak, people also tend to either:
1. treat you like you're simple
2. think that you can't hear either, then proceed to enter a game of charades. If you have ever wanted to force someone to play a game with you, just don't say any words.
A PSA to everyone: Use your beautiful voices wisely and thoughtfully. You may not have them forever.
Excited about planning an alternative living community with my high school friends. Can't wait to not have to sit in an office five days a week. I will (I WILL) liberate myself from the repugnant stagnancy of the working world, or I will die trying. I am starting a gosh-damned farm when I get out of school.
A quote from The Beautiful and Damned. F. Scott Fitzgerald is a good writer, and what a romantic!:
When Anthony spoke it was with surety that his words came from something breathless and desirous that the night had conceived in their two hearts.
Some random thing I am working on at WCDG
I like the style of this house with the wooden siding, simple framing, and ornately decorated windows
Marcelle had asked for one of my doodles, and here she is.
I love that quote and your doodle! thanks for sharing :)
