OJB Houston #3

heyyy

I've been at OJB for over a month now. We just finished working on that huge lumion project. After my last post, I was tasked with animating the people and putting the effects together for a 4-5 minute video. The client wanted a video for advertising purposes to sell the design to donors and future tenants. It was so cool to work on something that is in the process of being built. Everything in that model is true to our CD's, which is out of the ordinary. It will be cool to visit in a few years to see the real thing!! I'll post a link to the video and renderings once I get permission.

Other than that, my time over the past two weeks has been in InDesign and excel. I'm working on an InDesign template for our plant palletes. My job is to research and compile information on the top 100+ plants we use in our Texas projects and format them in InDesign so when the next project presentation is being put together, they can just copy over the information and pictures of their selected plants! People keep telling me this is a really important project. It'll save time in the long run so people don't have to repeat work. I've spent a lot of time in excel organizing all of the information before plugging it in to InDesign. Here's and example page of the template....

On Friday mornings, we usually have a construction documentation class. On this Friday morning, Levi brought in some plants for a quiz/lecture. It was refreshing to have some time to get together as an office and talk about plants!

Here's an illegible page out of my notebook from our last construction documentation class. We were talking about grading and drainage. I got to learn about the responsibilities of the Civil Engineer, the Landscape Architect, and the Architect in relation to grading. It was interesting to see how a grading lecture differs from school and the office.

My parents came to visit last weekend! This is my Dad and I checking out the model of Downtown Houston in our office.

Carlos and I went to the Menil Collections, an art museum with a wide range of art styles and time periods that is free to the public! They didn't allow photos... this is the only one I got... secretly.

Houston has been treating me well. There's still so much left to do! I'm still playing Hades but I haven't gotten very far since I've been focusing on Towerfall (king's court on hardcore has me beat). It's been warming up so I'm planning on spending more time outdoors soon, maybe I'll get a chance to visit past OJB projects, like Levy park. I miss y'all a lot but I am glad to have the break from school.
