First solo flight
Hope everybody is doing great and enjoying their internship.
On Friday I was the only person in the landscape department. My boss was having maintenance done on his house and my coworker took off. My coworker works 60+ hours a week. So, it was nice to see him take a day off and go up north, to visit his folks in Tampa. My boss left me two pump stations to make changes per the codes of the City of Cape Coral. The projects are in a neighborhood, but they were first drafted to meet codes for a nonresidential site, since a residences will not be built on the plot. CCC got back to the firm and redlined the design to meet residential code, since the plot was zoned to be residential. The changes were not too bad with Land F/X. It did takes sometime to change the text of the codes in Excel and relink the text to paper space.

I worked on the second portion of Alico Road. I was given total freedom to design the nearly 2 mile stretch. My boss even told the head of the landscape and planning departments that my design was great. I was able to use the same plants from phase one with Land F/X. The median was mostly 6-9 wide and widened for one of the intersections of the roads

Ridge Road was the first project I worked on. The project is 2.95 miles. The project was originally from 2015 and has been reworked three times, and each time the county sits on it for a while and when the county decide to go forward with the project, the codes have changed. The code now is that no plants can be planted 20 feet from the edge of the travel way. So that is 40 feet and whatever is left can be planted. Do not forget the 100 foot nosing for islands. Hopefully the county does not put the project on the back burner for too long. Since the project is older, the project was not originally done in Land F/X. So, my coworker had to show me how to use Land F/X and link the plants symbols and sizes that were on the project. I had to put all the landscaping into Land F/X. So, I was working on the project for about my first two weeks. Ridge Road Ridge Road With Median Not Being 40+ Feet

I raced in the Edison Festival of Lights 5K last night in downtown Fort Myers and following the race was the Edison Festival of Lights Parade. The race started in downtown Fort Myers connected to HWY 41, also called Tamiami Trail, because the trail connects Tampa and Miami. Along Tamiami Trail I saw people setup for the parade very much like back at home Mardi Gras. Not going to lie, I had high hopes for the parade, but they went up in flames whenever I realized this was no traditional Louisiana parade. They had maybe three trailers with 10 people on each, they did not throw anything, about ten bands, about 15 high schools from the surrounding cities, which danced, and marched. Lee County and Fort Myers Police Department brought out all the big guns, not literally, but they brought their boats, bomb squad, mobile command centers, SWAT teams, they went all out. I was getting considered considering the size of Lee County and the all the equipment that was in the parade, if the county and city would be able to respond to an emergency accordingly. Luckily, I did not hear of any emergencies at the parade or the county.
