hellooo. Now that the 12 weeks are officially done I will still post throughout the summer but probably a lot more casually. I will probably have a lot of days off which my company is fine with as long as I'm still helping out. They basically told me to enjoy my summer while I still have one. So I'm not going to take off just because but I'm not worried about missing trips/ vacations now.  Last week we did a volunteer project funded by LCMC health for a low income neighborhood park/community space. Instead of sending out crews, the office actually participated. We mulched a huge playground and built large vegetable planters. It was hot and extremely exhausting, but after the owner grilled us food and we had a hangout on our new culture patio so that was nice.  Also, I finally finished the moss wall. was fun but hard-glad its done. Everyone seems to enjoy it.

hey again I'm still working on that 70-acre site in Austin. I've been in sketchup and lumion for the past like.... six weeks? Our final presentation is going out today so hopefully I'll get a new project soon. I've been mostly working on the renderings for the presentation, but last week I was able to take a break from lumion and get into vectorworks and photoshop to make some sections. I feel like at this point I could teach a class on sketchup and lumion.  In my time spent outside of work: my mom came to visit me last weekend, I went to see one of my favorite bands live, and tears of the kingdom (zelda) came out a few days ago. its a gorgeous game, but it's kinda obvious that it was meant to be a DLC... i have a lot of thoughts about it.  are we supposed to keep up the blog posts if we're working through the summer...?  -ellen

I made it!

Hello everybody,     I survived the engineering internship. My boss was taking PTO starting on Wednesday. So, it was just me and my coworker Wednesday-Friday. Friday was my last day at noon. I said my "goodbyes" and some people in the cubicles by mine, put on "Coffee with Connor". "Coffee with Connor" happened on Friday morning. People brought in breakfast food for my last morning. I really enjoyed talking with people and them showing me that they liked having me. Wednesday and Thursday I did mostly scanning, and I began doing some code research and buffer calculations for a new project.     I came into Baton Rouge on Friday night. My parents and I went to Walk On's. Saturday I had a friend from Southeastern on Saturday morning. Saturday night I have a family friend get married. I finally got my Cane's on Saturday afternoon. Sunday I celebrated Mother's Day with my extended family.      Two Fridays ago, I shadowed the environmental department....

05/11/2023 finally getting around to this mid-week. a lot has happened since the last time I posted. Two weekends ago a buddy of mine came to visit and we went to los angeles for a day. i got to see the infamous hollywood sign and venice beach. a great example of a fully programmed space and one of my new favorite spots. We also rented a tandem kayak and took it surfing even though the fine print said, "NO KAYAK SURFING". It was so fun. This past weekend Jim invited Jonah and I to Sunnyland's, one of OJB's most notable projects, so we got to ditch work and head out to palm springs for the day where he showed us around and went over his favorite parts and even bought us lunch.  Literally right after that we drove an hour up a mountain where we spent the next two days camping and hiking in a snow top covered mountain with a bunch of our other coworkers. It was a great experience and completely different from our previous camping trip. The next day we drove home to the ...

Gee, it has been a while.  I moved in with a family whom I am actually friends with (I know their son, but we get along swimmingly), and I am finding I will be much happier here. Unlike the last, this family is friendly and does NOT spend 8-10 hours a day in front of a television. I can feel a grey smog lifting from my soul as we laugh together. Plus, their son (my friend) may be home soon, and we will be like roommates. Work has been work, like usual. Collin Roan got hired here and will be in this month, I am told. There was one unfortunate incident where I think I found two co-workers complaining about/shit-talking me behind my back (I don't know why, but it hurt my feelings), which I have gotten over. If someone is miserable enough to fill their time putting down other people, I pity them. Anyway, that unconfirmed, suspicious incident has eroded my trust in them, which is altogether not great since we work together on projects. Office dynamics are slightly strange here lik...

1 More Week Left- ThaiPham

Check out my Sketchup modeling for Boynton Yard. I am so happy because I finally know how to use Sketchup and Enscape rendering. This modeling took me a week to actually learn and play around with it. I believe it came out quite nicely.  Let me know what yall think! 💚

Week 14 & 15 - Taylor

When the weather gets warmer, design build gets busier. The last few weeks have been pretty nonstop but I don't mind because the day goes by faster. The last two weeks have been filled with a lot of measuring, base mapping, designing, rendering, and A LOT of moss. I don't know where I left off with the moss wall update but our plant wall has now changed to a moss wall since our building is freezing the plants would not be happy. Working on this almost completely by myself has been challenging but I'm starting to see the light and think I and our office will be happy with the outcome.  Outside of internship, life has also been very busy but I am enjoying every second of it... don't make me go back to school :(  small backyard design that I did.. cant find the one with labels oops current state of the moss wall Hope u people are having fun and getting some warm ish weather wherever u are !!!

Summer! - Julia

Work is great, we've been going on many site visits recently. I've also been hopping around from project to project which I enjoy because it keeps my ADHD brain entertained. I don't really want to get into each thing I've done because I don't really feel like typing all that out. I can tell whoever cares about it when school starts again, just know I'm having a good time. Hopefully I can work here during the school year, I'm sure it'll be near impossible but fingers crossed. Okay peace out. The lovely Chicot State Park

Spring in New England - Will Carbo

Hey everyone,  Still enjoying work. My workload seems to be gradually increasing which is nice because it means less time waiting around to help with something. The last few weeks I've been hopping around on a number of different projects. Mostly illustrative master plan revisions, some entry gate details in CAD for a residence, and some sketchup modeling and perspective graphics for a project in southern California. Trying to enjoy spring here while it lasts. It's really amazing to see the variety of flowers/flowering trees that can be found blooming here in the spring which can't be found in Louisiana. That's about it for now.                                                                                         ...
